Armenian Church history to be taught in schools

Armenian Ministry of Education and Science refuted rumors that the subject ‘History of the Armenian Church” will be removed from the school curriculum on the instructions of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

”The respective structures of the UN may not give such instructions, they may only propose programs. The contents of Armenia’s educational system are determined by the government,” the ministry spokesman Arthur Baghdasaryan told Aysor.am.

According to him, Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan highly appreciates foreign partners’ assistance to the educational system. “Yet the contents are to be determined by us,” the minister was quoted as saying by the ministry spokesman who added that the history of the Armenian Church will be taught in schools due to its importance.
