Cause of M. Khojoyan’s death to be released after checks
Mamikon Khojoyan was under the constant supervision of doctors, Health Minister Armen Muradyan told journalists today.
According to him, in the last three weeks a group of neurologists, surgeons and therapists visited Khojoyan three times, but he was not taken to hospital as his relatives objected to that.
The minister declined to comment on the possible causes of M. Khojoyan’s death, particularly the version that he was poisoned in Azerbaijan, noting that all information will be released after an autopsy and necessary checks by law enforcement bodies.
Mamikon Khojoyan, a 77-year-old resident of Verin Karmiraghbyur village in Armenian province of Tavush, was tortured while being held in Azerbaijani captivity for over a month. He died on March 20. Numerous traces of torture were found on his body. Khojoyan’s body was transported from Yerevan to his village yesterday.
