3 victims of downtown Yerevan shooting moved from ICU to wards

Three people wounded in the May 17 shooting in downtown Yerevan have been moved from the intensive care unit (ICU) to wards, Aysor.am was informed by spokesman for Yerevan clinical hospital No 1 Alexander Harutyunyan.

“Norayr Harutyunyan, Albina Badalyan and Mnatsakan Sukiasyan were moved to wards. They are in satisfactory condition. The condition of the two other victims – Myasnik Hayrapetyan and Valery Hovhannisyan remains serious but stable and they are kept in ICU,” Harutyunyan said.

Five people received gunshot wounds in a shooting near Vernisage souvenir market on Khanjian Street in downtown Yerevan on May 17. A 29-year-old man named Gor Arakelyan surrendered to the police on May 18 in connection with the shooting case. He was detained.

Gor Arakelyan was charged under Articles 34-104 part 1, 6 ad 10 and Article 236 part 1 of the Criminal Code. On May 21 the general jurisdiction court of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nor-Marash administrative districts granted investigators’ petition to use arrest as a measure of restraint for Gor Arakelyan.
