2013 Presidential Awards Ceremony held in Yerevan

The 2013 Presidential Awards Ceremony took place at the Armenian President’s residence today, according to the presidential press service.

The winners received awards for their contribution to various spheres, as well as diplomas and monetary prizes from Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and President of Robert Boghossian and Sons Foundation, Diaspora Armenian benefactor Jean Boghossian.

Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the award winners and wished them success in further activities.

According to him, with the assistance of the Boghossians and under the patronage of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, they have for years tried to reveal the best achievements in Armenia’s scientific, cultural and education life, with special attention paid to works on international research of the Armenian Genocide as well as creative aspirations of Armenian youth.

“Each award shall carry out a significant mission. Like others, these awards are a method and a form of a work’s public recognition. They allow people who engage in creative activity to be convinced that their work is appreciated by society and reaches the addressees,” the president stated.

“It is especially symbolic that, while entering the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, we acknowledge the services of Israeli scholar, historian Yair Auron in the category “For Significant Contribution to the Armenian Genocide Recognition,” Serzh Sargsyan said adding “I am very glad that representatives of Israel and Jewish Diaspora struggle for the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Despite all the odds, you did not abandon lofty ideas of your predecessors,” the Armenian president said.

He again congratulated all the recipients and wished then good health and new achievements in their activities.
