Hovhannes Manukyan: Armenians preserved their freedom-loving spirit

Armenian Minister of Justice Hovhannes Manukyan posted a statement on his Facebook page on Day of the First Armenian Republic.

“In a historic battle on this day almost a century ago, our grandfathers revived the right and will of our Fatherland and people to live and create,” the minister wrote.

“The heroic battles at Sardarapat, Bash Aparan and Gharakilisa demonstrated that the Armenians preserved their ancestors’ freedom-loving spirit that is passed on from one generation to another,” Manukyan wrote, noting that it is no accident that the May heroic battles opened a new page in Armenia’s history, which is evidenced by the victory in the Artsakh liberation war.

“Glory to our heroes! Congratulations, Armenia!” Hovhannes Manukyan said in his statement.

On May 28 Armenia celebrates Day of the First Armenian Republic. On May 28, 1918 Armenia restored its independence after remaining under the yoke of foreign conquerors for six centuries.
