Inmate hangs himself in prison hospital

The body of convict Seryozha Mkhitaryan, 60, was found in Convicts’ Hospital penal institution at 9:10 am today. He hanged himself.

An employee of the press service of Armenian Justice Ministry’s Criminal Executive Department told Aysor.am that there were no traces of violence on the man’s body.

S. Mkhitaryan was imprisoned in 2006. He was charged under Article 104 of the Criminal Code. In 2013 his prison term was reduced by 6 months under a general amnesty.

The press service employee said the convict suffered from a serious illness.
