Shakaryan: Moscow and Ankara will remain eternal rivals in region

“The more sanctions the West imposes on Russia, the more Turkey tries to consolidate its position in that country,” expert on Turkey Artak Shakaryan told reporters today.

“Although economic relations of Russia and Turkey are deepening, both Moscow and Ankara realize that they will remain eternal rivals in the region. We should exercise caution so that this cooperation will not turn into an anti-Armenian move,” he said.

“The strategic partner is a player who has the opportunity to express disagreement with the partner’s some action or other. Armenia should speak more openly with its Russian partner,” Shakaryan noted.

According to him, the situation of neither peace nor war in the Karabakh problem is advantageous to Russia.
