Minister: But what organization did Armenia join together with Karabakh?

“Why should a customs house be set up between Armenia and the Nagorno Karabakh Republic? I did not hear such statements,” Armenian Minister of Economy Karen Chshmarityan told reporters today.

When asked if Armenia may join the Eurasian Economic Union without Nagorno Karabakh, he said: “Bur are Armenia and Karabakh together a member of the UN or the CIS? And what organization did Armenia join together with Nagorno Karabakh?”

“In the future we will act in the same way as until now,” the minister noted.

“Goods made in the NKR can be sold in Armenia, WTO member states, and the European market,” Chshmarityan said.

“Why should we be worried about a letter from a third or fourth country? There is no need to attach much importance to Aliyev’s letter that Nazarbayev read,” the minister added.

At the May 29 sitting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana, Nursultan Nazarbayev read a letter of Azerbaijani President ilham Aliyev, noting: “So as not to excite our friend in Azerbaijan, you should join the Eurasian Union with the borders fixed by the UN – as you joined the WTO”.
