Non-government factions to submit 12-clause demand to authorities

The four non-government factions of the parliament – ARFD, Prosperous Armenia (BHK), Armenian National Congress (HAK) and Heritage factions – adopted a 12-clause statement to be submitted to the authorities as an urgent demand.

The head of Heritage opposition faction Ruben Hakobyan made this announcement at a briefing today following a two-hour meeting of the four non-government forces.

According to him, the text of the statement is ready. It will be edited and released.

“We are going to present these demands at the upcoming four-day sessions of the parliament, at a joint press conference. I can only say that the clauses were adopted by all of us and our demands are mainly related to the domestic policy,” R. Hakobyan said, adding that some clauses are addressed to the Armenian government.

The faction head declined to clarify the clauses, noting the heads of the four factions will give a joint press conference.

When asked what they will do if their demands are not met, R. Hakobyan replied that a joint rally will be organized in the autumn to assess how much those demands are met. Besides, time is needed to satisfy the demands.

“The implementation of these 12 clauses will bring about changes in the economic and political situation as well as the moral and psychological climate in our country,” R. Hakobyan said.
