Armenian president pays working visit to Tavush province

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan paid a working visit to Tavush province yesterday, according to the presidential press service. He visited the newly-built kindergarten in the border village of Voskevan and familiarized himself with the conditions in the kindergarten constructed under a program of Armenia’s Social Investment Fund. The kindergarten is envisaged for 50 children (two age groups). 31 kids currently attend it. Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the pupils, teachers and parents on International Children’s Day marked on June 1 and watched a performance by the kindergarten pupils.

The president then familiarized himself with work on the installation of a gas supply pipeline network in Voskevan and other communities of Noyemberian region – Voskepar, Baghanis, Barekamavan, and Koti. The work was done under the Rural Capacity Building Program by the Office for Implementation of Rural Area Economic Development Programs adjunct to the Armenian government in the period from 3 August 31, 2012 to May 1, 2014. Program executives say $3.53 million was spent to lay 66 km of gas pipeline. The program will benefit 2,300 households. They informed the president that construction work already finished and the exploitation documents will be ready in June 2014, while the work of connecting potential beneficiaries to the network will be done in the next three months.

Additional construction work on expansion of the gas distribution system will be implemented in 2014. According to preliminary estimates, 421,208 dollars’ worth of 11.38 km of gas pipeline is still to be built in the mentioned communities. Design work is underway, while construction will finish by late 2014.

The Armenian president also attended the consecration of St. Hovhannes Church in Koghb community. Following the ceremony he talked with community residents about their urgent problems.
