Minasyan: EaEU creates ample economic opportunities for Karabakh

Membership of Armenia in the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU) will create ample economic opportunities for Nagorno Karabakh, the Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Financial, Credit and Budget Affairs Gagik Minasyan told reporters today.

In his words, Nagorno Karabakh will automatically become part of EaEU and goods made in Karabakh will have the same status as goods manufactured in the union’s member states.

“Azerbaijan clearly understands it and tries to hinder the process of Armenia’s accession to the union. Armenia will soon become a member of EaEU, while Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh make up a common economic space without a customs border,” G. Minasyan said, adding that Karabakh is not the only unrecognized republic to form a de facto part of EaEU.

He also expressed confidence that Armenia will get the status of EaEU member by July 1.
