M. Sargsyan: BHK was used to corrupt the whole political field

The Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) is trying to dictate its will and approaches on the domestic political scene, political scientist Manvel Sargsyan told reporters today.

Speaking about the new government’s formation, he said that it is an internal element of the integration processes and it bears evidence of compulsion.

“In Armenia there is much talk about an internal political struggle, but life shows that there is no such thing. It is a totalitarian system, around which some forces try to collide and form a pole, thus influencing domestic and foreign political processes,” M. Sargsyan noted, adding that this is not the case as an oligarchic system – the power of capital has been formed where the creation of poles is simply impossible .

“I have always said that Tsarukyan’s party was skilfully used for years to corrupt the whole political field from inside,” M. Sargsyan said.

In his opinion, statements made by Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) are especially farfetched. “We know that the disagreements between HHK and BHK are coordinated,” he noted.

“In the 2012 parliamentary election BHK won a victory over HHK. It was the first time that HHK was defeated. Yet BHK conceded all votes so that HHK could triumph. During the parliamentary elections Tsarukyan refused to run for president and made way for Serzh Sargsyan. Then municipal elections were held. BHK declared that it would struggle to win and stand by the people’s side, but it secretly gave its votes to HHK,” M. Sargsyan said.

According to him, a similar situation emerged today concerning the four non-government parties. “The four parties are being destroyed by BHK. Political activities are being destroyed in this way. There are no four parties in reality. There is a party that destroys these political forces,” M. Sargsyan said.

As for Armenian National Congress (HAK), the political scientist said HAK follows a different path and that it declared that it will try its best to unite those parties.

“Sometimes Tsarukyan thinks that he is a leader. But he is occasionally given to understand that he is an ordinary citizen and has no right to be inspired. Tsarukyan clearly understands it,” the political scientist said.

In response to a remark that the government got down to business and several parliamentary deputies were already fined, the political scientist said that in itself this system is a system of internal shadow mechanisms and it cannot impose fines on itself.

“There is nothing accidental in it. These people have worked for years in the shadow sector and the authorities were aware of it. Now they are facing a budget collapse so they try to collect those sums from themselves,” Manvel Sargsyan noted.
