Ukrainian ambassador: Ukraine’s position on Crimea remains unchanged

Crimea is a part of Ukraine and will always remain so, Ukrainian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Kukhta stated at a press conference in Yerevan today. In his words, Ukraine’s position on Crimea remains unchanged.

“The newly elected President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also declared that a few days ago. I don’t know what Moscow will do in this situation, but it is our position,” the Ukrainian ambassador noted.

According to Ivan Kukhta, the Ukrainian president has a program of getting Crimea back. As for international organizations, they don’t recognize the Crimea referendum, the ambassador said noting “They recognize Ukraine’s territorial integrity”.

Speaking about further relations between Ukraine and Russia, Ivan Kukhta said that Russia is nevertheless a neighboring country. “Ukraine already announced its readiness to conduct negotiations with Moscow. Petro Poroshenko said he should sit down to talks with Russia, develop bilateral relations and sign new normative documents,” I. Kukhta said.
