S. Ohanyan: We can not only deter, but also prevent enemy subversive acts

“The situation on the borders is tense but stable. There is nothing new in constant ceasefire violations by the enemy,” Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said in the Armenian parliament today when speaking about the tense situation and border incidents that have recently increased.

In his words, society should understand the situation and accept it – as long as the conflict remians unresolved, we should respond to the belligerent ‘fervor’ of the enemy with counteractions and preventive measures.

“We should create an atmosphere of trust to solve the problem. In order to do it, snipers should refrain from opening fire, it is necessary to observe the ceasefire, prevent provocative attacks and so on,” the defense minister noted, adding that the Armenian side is prepared to do it and repeatedly informed international structures about it.

“The situation is such that we can not only counteract, but also prevent by means of surveillance and destruction devices. I assure you that the commanders of the armed forces do it in the field,” Ohanyan said.

According to him, the Armenian side adheres to its strategy and tactics at each section of the border. “I want to assure you that in many cases your response is very tough and very often it is even preventive,” the minister said.
