Serzh Sargsyan attends opening of new highway in Yerevan
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended today the opening ceremony of a new highway in Yerevan and familiarized himself with the construction work.
The construction began in July 2012 and finished on May 31, 2014. The 5.1-km long highway links Leningradian Street and Admiral Isakov Avenue of the city. The asphalt-paved roadway has an area of 73,000 square meters. The total area of the site is 15 hectares with a green area of 5 ha, including ornamental trees and shrubs.
Director of Yerevanproject CJSC Sirekan Ohanyan said during a briefing that the highway will enable to ease traffic jams in downtown Yerevan.
Besides, the highway is linked with a road to Zvartnost Airport, thanks to which the travel time will be reduced by 15-20 minutes. The company director stressed the high quality of asphalt work.
