‘I'm against’ initiative to intensify protest in response to government act

The four non-government political forces had a meeting with representatives of ‘I am against’ civil initiative opposed to the compulsory accumulative pension system’s introduction in Armenia.

The initiative members told reporters following the meeting that the civil initiative is against the principle, based on which the government intends to present the new legislative package on the compulsory accumulative pension. The government actions do not contain steps to change the previous law, but they pursue the aim of using the same system under different formulations.

The members of ‘I am against initiative’ said they only accept the voluntary principle of the law.

They stressed that it is obvious the authorities are not going to give up their intention of introducing the accumulative pension system. If the government continues to work in the same style, the civil initiative’s protests will intensify.

“The government wants to submit this document at the special session and achieve the law’s adoption. So we, using all the legal means, will do our best to hinder these plans. Great public pressure should be put if the authorities intend to apply the unconstitutional law once again. We will continue our struggle,” the initiative members said.
