“Work of current government does not differ from previous one”

Work of the current government does not differ from activities of the previous one: nothing was changed in the new draft law on accumulative pensions submitted by the government – the compulsory pension contribution has simply been replaced by a social payment, the member of ‘I’m against’ civil initiative Gevorg Gorgisyan told reporters today.

“The draft law, which is unfamiliar even to National Assembly deputies, cannot be passed,” Gorgisyan said, stressing the document discriminates against employees of the state sector.

Another member of ‘I’m against’ initiative, Mane Tandilyan, said they have received many complaints from employees of state organizations.

“They are in a terrible state. In particular, we receive calls from school teachers and doctors. People are afraid to protest, out of fear of losing their jobs,” she noted.

“I should say that if this draft of the government becomes a law, it will mean that our struggle was senseless,” Gorgisyan said.

Members of ‘I’m against’ civil initiative gathered today outside the Armenian parliament to boycott the introduction of the new pension system in Armenia.

Among the drafts to be debated at the current special session of the parliament is the draft law on amendments and additions to the law on accumulative pensions.
