Armenian prime minister receives PACE co-rapporteurs

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received today PACE co-rapporteurs on Armenia Axel Fischer and Alan Mill, according to the press office of the government .

The Prime Minister attached importance to the co-rapporteurs' efforts to help Armenia fulfill its commitments towards the Council of Europe. According to him, Armenia is not only actively involved in the organization’s work at all levels, but also had the honor to chair the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers in May-November 2013.

“We will continue our efforts aimed at the protection of human rights, the rule of law and democracy,” the prime minister said.

PACE co-rapporteurs praised Armenia’s work during its chairmanship of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, as well as cooperation with the Monitoring Committee. They noted that Armenia continues following the path of strengthening democracy, which is a good achievement for Armenia and Europe.

H. Abrahamyan presented the priorities of government programs and the assistance program for refugees from Syria. He briefed the guests on the process of constitutional reforms, the regional situation, relations with the neighbors, and Armenia’s participation in integration processes.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group framework.
