Special sitting of Armenian parliament disrupted due to lack of quorum

The parliamentary opposition blocked today the special sitting of Armenia’s National Assembly today. The speaker Galust Sahakyan announced a 3-hour break due to lack of a quorum as only 63 deputies were present in the session hall.

Deputies shall get registered again within the next 3 hours and if a quorum is secured, the parliament will continue its work. 66 deputies are needed for a quorum.

Deputies of Prosperous Armenia (BHK), Heritage, Orinats Yerkir (OEK), and ARF-Dashnaktsutyun factions were absent from the sitting.

“No quorum will be secured without us,” the head of ARFD faction Armen Rustamyan told reporters in the parliament. In his words, the refusal to participate in the sitting was a tactical step.
