Political scientist: War in Nagorno Karabakh not advantageous to Russia

The resumption of large-scale hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone is not advantageous to Russia, political scientist Sergei Minasyan said at a meeting with reporters today.

The political scientist explained his position by the fact that in this case Russia has to make a choice between its economic partner – Azerbaijan and its strategic partner – Armenia.

“The Nagorno Karabakh problem is the only one, on which Russia and the West have a similar position. Moscow currently supplies arms to Azerbaijan and also supplied arms to Armenia and in fact Nagorno Karabakh as part of the military and political cooperation. Thus the conflicting parties are getting more involved with Russia,” Minasyan said.
