Lavrov speaks in favor of continuation of Sargsyan-Aliyev direct dialog

The direct dialog between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan should continue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
“We will seek to continue the renewed direct dialog between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia,” S. Lavrov said at the press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, Russia is interested in a speedy resolution to the Nagorno Karabakh problem. “We proceed from the assumption that there is a basis for the problem’s solution – the principles indicated in the statements of the presidents of Russia, the United States and France,” S. Lavrov said.

He added it only remains to discuss the sequence of steps to be taken to carry out those principles.

“The more regularly the presidents meet, the more dynamic the talks will be,” Lavrov stated.
