Bostanjyan: Some of those in power also unhappy with economic policy

The remarks made by second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan in his recent interview are a 1000% truth, economist Vardan Bostanjyan said at a press conference today.

In his words, he did not forget the years of R. Kocharyan’s presidency, especially the ‘equity for debt’ policy, but the former president talks sensibly.

Bostanjyan said that there are people among those in power who are unhappy with the current economic policy of Armenia.
“There are people who understand what is going on. The overwhelming majority only think about their lives. They have no opportunity to express an opinion, but they understand clearly what is going on,” he noted.

Commenting on the demand of 12 points submitted by the four non-government factions, V. Bostanjyan said that some political figures are trying to discredit those points with their statements.

“Some political clowns claim they are non-structural, but these points say how state plunder can be stopped,” Bostanjyan said, adding that first of all, state plunder should be stopped in order to “set the country on feet”, and only then other steps can be taken.

“Naturally, these 12 points will neither restore the Armenian economy nor get the socioeconomic system out of this sad situation. A political will and state thinking are necessary to get the country out of this situation,” he noted.
