S. Avetisyan: European structures don’t go beyond statements

Tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border usually escalates ahead of important meetings, the deputy of Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) parliamentary faction Sukias Avetisyan told reporters today.

“When Aliyev prepares for a meeting, tension starts to escalate on the border. So it turns out that these actions are deliberate and not accidental, and attempts are being made later to use them in various formats,” the deputy said.

In his words, the problem is that international organizations fail to take the appropriate steps.

“Both EU states and European structures do not seem to go beyond statements. I think it is time to take strict measures against Azerbaijan and also apply sanctions,” he noted.
