S. Safaryan: No political force will be able to foment popular revolt
Orinats Yerkir Party (OEK) tries to take advantage of the four non-government parties’ inactivity to occupy a place in the opposition camp, the former member of Heritage Party’s board Stepan Safaryan told the correspondent of Aysor.am when speaking about the rally to be staged by OEK on July 18.
In his words, although some political forces are trying to organize a popular revolt, society’s state today can be described as a deep apathy.
“From the very beginning, the withdrawal of OEK from the political coalition was perceived as preparations for 2018. Naturally, this party will attempt to realize what other political forces have not done so far. To create an impression, OEK intends to initiate social protest, but it will hardly succeed,” Safaryan noted.
According to him, not only OEK, but also other political forces will not succeed in initiating anything as the society is tired of everything and distrusts the parties.
“No political force currently evokes trust in society. I think no political force will be able to foment a serious social protest,” he noted.
Safaryan said all the political parties are now pinning their hopes on the civil initiatives that prefer to struggle separately and do not allow any party to use them.
When asked if Heritage Party is among them, Safaryan replied: “Yes. No need to create an impression that Heritage Party has no members who don’t evoke trust. If the four factions knew they would reach success, they would hold a rally. The four parties rely not on political steps, but on the civil movements struggling against this or that problem. The political forces think they can unify everyone at once and create a stir, but I don’t think they will succeed. The problem of the four forces is that they do not act jointly,” Stepan Safaryan said.
