L. Alaverdyan: Azerbaijani diversionists should be tried in Karabakh

The Azerbaijani diversionists should stand trial in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, the first Ombudsperson of Armenia, chairwoman of Against Legal Arbitrariness NGO Larisa Alaverdyan said at a press conference today when commenting on the incident in Karvachar region of the NKR.

According to her, it is the second time that Armenian mass media and social networks have reacted inadequately tothe border developments. The first case was related to Hakob Injighulyan, a POW held captive in Azerbaijan.

“Everyone started to criticize him harshly, but no one knew if he said he crossed the border on his own. It was a serious mistake,” L. Alaverdyan noted.

“Now social network users are actively discussing the issue of whether a man with such a belly can be a diversionist. Excuse me, but he is not James Bond to seduce women. It goes without saying that no one crosses the border on their own initiative. Azerbaijan says it will not let us live quietly, and it does it,” Ms. Alaverdyan said.

She added that first of all, Armenia should reinforce its border protection because that region is very complex in its structure. “Armenia should take new measures so that the Armenian border will not be so vulnerable,” Alaverdyan said.
