Ambassador: Iran is against deployment of peacekeepers in region

Teheran is opposed to the deployment of peacekeeping forces in the region, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mohammad Reisi said.

“Iran is against the deployment of any foreign forces in the region. I assure you that such a step endangers the whole region,” M. Reisi said at a press conference.

In his words, Iran only supports a peaceful resolution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

“We do not want an unstable situation in the region. Any conflict should be resolved through dialog,” the ambassador said.

M. Reisi considered a resumption of the Karabakh conflict unlikely.

According to him, arms can never be a security factor.
