Criminal case opened in murder of Harutyun Grigoryan

The body of Harutyun Grigoryan, the brother of Gyumri Pedagogical University rector Vardevan Grigoryan, was found on a farm in Getk community, Armenia’s Shirak province.

Around 5:10 pm on July 24 Akhurian police station received a call from the administrator of Getk community that a man’s body was found in their village, Armenian police said.

A police task force was sent to the scene. The body of 50-year-old Harutyun Grigoryan was found on an abandoned farm of Getk community.

Grigoryan’s body had traces of violence and a gunshot wound. Two 9mm bullets and 5 cartridge cases were also discovered at the scene.

A criminal case was opened under Criminal Code’s Articles 104 (murder) and 235 (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation and possession of firearms and ammunition).

An investigation is underway.
