Order established for selection of Armenian candidate for ECHR judge

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed today a decree about the order of selecting Armenia’s candidate for a judge of the European Court of Human Rights.

It is the first time that the selection commission’s functions and the procedures of holding a contest of candidates and nominating candidates were subject to legal regulation.

The new order shall ensure a fair, transparent and public selection of the candidate in accordance with Armenia’s international commitments.
