Armenian citizen K. Petrosyan taken captive has been killed in Azerbaijan
Karen Petrosyan, a 31-year-old resident of Chinari village in Armenia’s Tavush province who crossed into Azerbaijani territory yesterday and was taken captive, has died, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, Karen Petrosyan allegedly “died of heart failure” in Baku. The Azerbaijani Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has already been notified of K. Petrosyan’s sudden death.
In response to the question of Aysor.am, the ICRC Armenian Office said they cannot yet comment on the incident.
Resident of Chinari village Karen Petrosyan was taken captive yesterday. On August 7 he went to a nearby forest to gather wood. In all likelihood K. Petrosyan lost his way and crossed into Azerbaijani territory, which is also confirmed by initial reports of the Azerbaijani media.
