Putin to hold bilateral meetings with Sargsyan and Aliyev in Sochi

Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, in Sochi tomorrow, on August 9. The meetings’ agendas are posted on the official website of the Russian head of state (kremlin.ru).

According to the website, during the meeting with S. Sargsyan, the sides will exchange opinions about political, commercial-economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, with special attention to be paid to the process of Armenia’s accession to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.

At the meeting with I. Aliydev, the sides are expected to discuss most important issues of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation and coordinate joint steps on the implementation of mutually beneficial prospective projects, first of all in energy, investment and interregional cooperation, the website said.

The press service of Armenian president reported earlier that on August 8 Serzh Sargsyan would pay a working visit to Sochi where he would meet Russian President Putin on August 9. It was noted that the Armenian side expressed readiness to hold a trilateral meeting with Presidents Putin and Aliyev during the visit in order to discuss issues related to a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict as well as the situation that formed as a result of escalation of tension by Azerbaijan in recent days.
