Meeting of Russian and Azerbaijani presidents held in Sochi

Russian President Vladimir Putin received Azerbaijani President Ilham Iliyev in his residence in Sochi, according to the official website of Russian president.

“At the meeting the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues. The situation concerning Nagorno Karabakh was addressed separately,” the website said.

Vesti.ru reported citing Interfax news agency that at the meeting with Ilham Aliyev, Vladimir Putin suggested talking about the “painful and long-standing problems” of the Karabakh conflict settlement. For his part, Ilham Aliyev expressed a willingness to discuss regional problems as well.

“We will certainly discuss the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts that drag on and require a resolution,” Aliyev was quoted as saying by the mass media.
