Sashik Sultanyan: About 20 thousand Yazidis killed in Northern Iraq
According to preliminary information, 20 thousand Yazidies were killed in Northern Iraq’s Shangal Region, the deputy chairman of National Committee of Yazidies NGO Sashik Sultanyan told reporters. He recently visited a camp of Yazidi refugees in Turkey.
“The killings were committed with the utmost cruelty. Children were killed before their mothers’ eyes, while women were mostly sold in a Mosul market,” Sultanyan said.
In the words of Boris Murazi, the head of the Union of Sinjar Yazidis, the refugees have no intention of returning to Iraq.
“There is a likelihood that genocide will recur. There are families in which only two people out of 40 family members have remained alive. Many families are unaware of fate of their relatives,” Murazi said.
