Aram Manukyan objects to urgent vote on draft law

The National Assembly of Armenia debated today the draft law on amendments and additions to the Law on Environmental Protection. The draft was to be discussed by the parliament urgently.

The secretary of Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction Aram Manukyan said during the discussion that he does not doubt the positivity of the submitted draft law, noting that such drafts require careful examination.

“It is a serious law requiring serious ecological debates. A deputy is unable to examine such a voluminous law and vote on it within 24 hours. It is unfair and cannot be called legislative activity. This law should be discussed quietly. It turns out that 77 of the 145 laws submitted were debated urgently, but laws should be legitimate and firm,” Manukyan said.

In his words, this work style raises doubts as to whether the amendments made to the law were fair. “They apparently want to conceal something,” the deputy noted.
