NKR prepared to hand over detainee who crossed border to Azerbaijan

Pursuant to provisions of the Geneva Conventions, the authorities of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic expressed their readiness to hand over the detainee who crossed the border in Martakert region to the Azerbaijani side.

“Displaying goodwill and commitment to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions, the authorities of the NKR are prepared to hand over Muzafarzade Javid Samir-olgi, 15, of the Azerbaijani city of Mir Bashir, to the Azerbaijani side. On September 5, 2014 he crossed the border of the NKR in Martakert region and was detained by the appropriate bodies,” the NKR State Commission on POWs, Hostages and Missing Persons said in a statement, according to Artsakhpress.

The State Commission notified the Offices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the OSCE in the NKR of the incident, the statement says.
