N. Zohrabyan: Vicious traditions continue in Armenian parliament
The Armenian National Assembly held a regular sitting today. At the start of the sitting in which 123 deputies participated, a draft law on amendments to the Law on Preservation and Use of Historical and Cultural Monuments in Armenia was put to the vote. The draft submitted by member of Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) faction Arpine Hovhannisyan and secretary of Prosperous Armenia (BHK) faction Naira Zohrabyan was adopted by a majority of votes.
The Armenian government-submitted draft law on amendments to the Law on Environmental Protection was also voted on. BHK faction did not vote on the draft.
In her speech, the faction secretary Ms. Naira Zohrabyan said that vicious traditions continue in the parliament.
“In the parliament, bills are hastily filed to the committee, with demands being made that a conclusion on the bill be presented rapidly. Moreover, during the committee’s sitting a government representative spread misinformation that the bill had been discussed with members of NGOs. It is a vicious work style. We have repeatedly said that this work style is inadmissible. For this reason BHK will not participate in the vote”, N. Zohrabyan said.
