Zohrabyan: No divergence of opinions between Tsarukyan and BHK team

It is not necessary at all to carry out constitutional reforms so as to switch to a 100% proportional electoral system under Armenia’s Electoral Code or to transfer control levers to the opposition, the secretary of Prosperous Armenia (BHK) faction Naira Zohrabyan said in a briefing in the National Assembly today.

“So those who link all the issues with those reforms should not engage in demagogy. The question is whether there is political will to eliminate the shortcomings, especially as there are no guarantees that the situation will not remain the same after those reforms,” she said.

When commenting on the interview of BHK Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan to Zham.am and the fact that some political figures speak about a divergence of opinions between Tsraukyan and his political team, Ms. Zohrabyan stressed that there is no such divergence.

“It is incomprehensible that our colleagues saw a difference of opinion. Everyone got evidence on repeated occasions that Gagik Tsarukyan is always unequivocal in his remarks. We are not speaking about whether the package is good or bad. We say that now that the country has such a high emigration rate and other, more serious problems as well as a deficit of trust, the constitutional reforms are not a priority. The matter just concerns the choice of the right moment,” she noted.

As for possible unscheduled processes, Naira Zohrabyan said that BHK Party adheres to constitutional terms, but is ready for any force majeure situations.
