Melkumyan: Authorities replied to trio for appearances’ sake

The Law on Turnover Tax was to take effect on October 1, but the public’s protest forced the government to make a pause, Mikael Melkumyan, parliamentary deputy of Prosperous Armenia Party, said in his speech today at the joint rally of three non-coalition parliamentary forces in Yerevan’s Liberty Square.

In his words, the Armenian government responded to 12 point-demands of the four political forces “for appearances’ sake”.

Speaking about the constitutional reforms, Melkumyan said the authorities are implementing these reforms to ensure their reproduction once again.

“Now they want to make amendments to the Constitution of Armenia so as to remain in power for 20 years or so. In this case, there will be only 500-600 people in Armenia in a few years,” Melkumyan declared.

He called on the rally participants to act in unity and fight against injustice.
