Ter-Petrosyan: Kocharyan and OEK have nothing to do with this movement

“Robert Kocharyan and Orinats Yerkir Party (OEK) have nothing to do with this movement. If they want to struggle against the regime, let them do it, no one hinders them,” the leader of Armenian National Congress (HAK), first Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan said at the joint rally of the ‘trio’ of non-coalition political forces held in Liberty Square of Yerevan today.

He said that starting from today, cooperation of Armenia’s opposition political forces will be developing into a popular movement that aims to solve the pressing problems.

According to Ter-Petrosyan, the new movement will be led by People’s Party of Armenia, HAK, Prosperous Armenia Party, and Heritage Party.

The first Armenian president stated that to ensure the efficiency of the movement they have initiated, decisions shall be taken only by the leaders of these political forces. “Only the leaders will determine the course of the movement, events, schedule… You may be dissatisfied, you may think the process is moving slowly, but there will be no success without mutual trust,” Ter-Petrosyan said.

In his words, he respects the position of ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Party that - for some reason or other - declined to be part of the popular movement.

“Anyway, the main thing is that after a partial change of its structure, the “magnificent four” remains a “magnificent four”, L. Ter-Petrosyan stressed.
