Safaryan: Rally of trio was of formal nature

The head of Institute on International Security Affairs NGO Stepan Safaryan said the October 10 rally of three non-coalition parties was targeting the pre-election processes in 2017-2018.

“This objective strategy is presented to the public as unification of the parties and their common demand for change of the current authorities. It was evident from the speeches that these political forces are not united,” Safaryan noted.

In his words, the rally was of a formal nature. “Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Raffi Hovannisian spoke about a long-term struggle, while Gagik Tsarukyan showed that he is not in a hurry. Regrettably, they decided not to address the subject of foreign policy on that important day. It shows that they are reluctant to do anything in that direction. In this case there is no sense in speaking about a common position,” Safaryan said.

“They just came to say that a popular movement is beginning, but they will say everything at the next rally,” he said.
