Nalbandyan: Exercise of right to self-determination to help solve conflicts

“The exercise of the right to self-determination can help prevent conflicts. To ignore this right means to contradict evolution”, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan said a press conference with British Minister for Europe David Lidington.

He said that the UN expert report also notes that achieving a resolution to many conflicts is impossible by ignoring the right to self-determination.

“We always stress that the exercise of the right to self-determination cannot cause conflicts. An obstacle to that right’s exercise creates a basis for conflicts,” Nalbandyan declared.

“A country where human rights are observed and there is democracy cannot oppose self-determination. The denial of the right to self-determination may be a cause of new problems and conflicts,” the Armenian foreign minister stated.
