S. Asatryan: Trial of saboteurs important from viewpoint of information war
The trial of the Azerbaijani saboteurs who infiltrated into Karabakh’s Karvachar region is very important from the viewpoint of information war, Sargis Asatryan, an expert on Azerbaijan, said at a meeting with reporters today.
In his words, the Azerbaijani side is trying to present this process as a flagrant violation of international norms.
“Azerbaijan tries to show that these men have the right of free access to the territory of Artsakh and they shall not be put on trial,” the expert said, noting that in reality these persons violated the laws of a concrete country and their trial is being held under the law of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. “I think it is a normal process from a legal point of view. A sentence cannot be passed without a trial,” Asatryan said.
“Armenia and the Nagorno Karabakh Republic act as defenders of international norms,” the expert said.
According to him, otherwise the Azerbaijani side will have an opportunity to play that card. “We have the following principle: not to emulate the enemy,” S. Asatryan said.
