Ambassador: French president to visit Armenia on 24 April 2015
“I am glad and proud that I have been appointed French ambassador to Armenia. For France, Armenia is an important country, with which we have long cooperated,” the new French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier said at a meeting with reporters today.
“I am very glad that I am assigned to promote Armenian-French relations,” the diplomat stated.
Stressing the high level of the political dialog between Armenia and France, Charpentier said that three French Presidents – Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande have visited Armenia.
The ambassador announced that President Francois Hollande will attend the Armenian Genocide Centennial events in Armenia on April 24, 2015.
In the words of Jean-Francois Charpentier, there is a high-level dialog not only in politics, but also other spheres. He underlined the need to intensify Armenian-French cooperation in economy as well, noting at the same time that France is the second largest investor in Armenia after Russia.
