John Heffern: US in favor of keeping OSCE MG format

Armenia is a country that ensures security, rather than consumes it, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern said at the NATO Week event held in Yerevan as part of Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP).

He considered the close cooperation between Armenia and NATO fruitful and mutually beneficial. The ambassador stressed the important role of Armenian military in NATO peacekeeping operations.

The ambassador also spoke about the Karabakh conflict settlment process, noting that the U.S. is in favor of keeping the OSCE Minsk Group format.

Commenting on the possibility of deploying peacekeepers in the Karabakh conflict zone, John Heffern noted that peacekeepers should be deployed at some stage, but the question is who will carry out that mission.
