Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan attends today’s court hearing
The Yerevan Court of Appeal chaired by judge Ruzanna Barseghyan examines the petition of the defense team of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan against the decision of court of first instance to prolong the arrest for another two months.
According to some media publications, judge Ruzanna Barseghyan was awarded in time by Kocharyan.
Asked whether this circumstance may serve as basis for declaring self-withdrawal of the judge, Kocharyan’s attorney Hayk Alumyan said the second president does not remember such thing.
“I have heard about it. Mr Kocharyan does not remember such thing. But I know that the judge has been awarded by the U.S. Embassy. If to consider it, it means that she is a good judge,” the attorney said, adding that he sees no grounds for demanding self-withdrawal of the judge.
Robert Kocharyan is present at the hearing.
Asked whether any officials tried to meet with Kocharyan in jail, the attorney said the Armenian ombudsman. As to whether Serzh Sargsyan tried to meet with him, Alumyan said, “No, of course, not.”
