Power failure in Armenia may be caused by problems in Iran: deputy minister
As of now, it is not clear yet what has caused the widespread blackout in Armenia, deputy territorial management and infrastructures minister Hakob Vardanyan told the reporters today.
He stressed that according to one hypothesis the frequency fluctuations may be the result of fluctuations in Iran power system as the Yerevan power system is synchronically connected with the Iranian one, consequently the fluctuations in each system affect the other.
“We have been in contact with Iranian partners and they have stated that fluctuations took place at the same time, but we cannot clearly state that they have come from Iran. This is just the most probable version,” the deputy minister said.
He stressed that a task group will be created to reveal the causes and the guilty.
The deputy minister also added that as of now restoration works are ongoing in Yerevan thermos Power Plant and Hrazdan energy bloc.
