Kocharyan’s supporters hand letter with demands to Supreme Judicial Council
On the eve the supporters of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan were conducting protest action in front of Supreme Judicial Council office, demanding the SJC implement its authorities and ensure independence of the judicial system.
The participants of the action were claiming that illegal actions are being carried out against judges making decisions in Kocharyan’s case while the SJC closes eyes on that circumstance. The supporters were demanding meeting with the chairman of the SJC and its members.
They were told though that a session was taking place after which they were received by spokesperson Arman Khachatryan who said that they may present their demands in a written form.
Today Kocharyan’s supporters outlined few of their demands to hand them to the Supreme Judicial Council.
“We have separated 3-4 points relating to the inactiveness of the Supreme Judicial Council. Another point refers to the attitude of the prime minister to the judicial system in general. The Supreme Judicial Council which is aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted activity of the judicial power is inactive. We expect exhausting answers to our questions publicly,” one of the participants of the protest action said.
