People harm Sevan more than a force majeure situation will do in conditions of Amulsar exploitation: Armenia’s PM
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan urged the people to give the government an opportunity to deal with the issue of Amulsar, the head of the government stated about it via live video on Facebook.
“Frankly speaking, I do not understand the civil disobedience action taking place over the issue. The purpose of such actions gives food for dual thoughts. We must give solution to all the issues basing on facts, we cannot make decisions without being informed, without being convinced in truth,” Pashinyan said.
He stressed that all the actions of the government must be based on facts and urged the people give the government an opportunity to get familiarized with the situation without pre-conditions.
“We are going to find objective facts and our possible decision will be based on facts irrespective what facts will come up,” he stressed.
The head of the government said that everything was done to organize the exert conclusion on a proper level, noting that a tender was declared as a result of which ELARD company was chosen and 400,000 USD provided to it for the studies.
Referring to the results of the expert conclusion, Pashinyan noted that according to it, the exploitation of Amulsar does not possess any threats for Lake Sevan and Jermuk waters.
The premier stated that with their actions the people harm Sevan 100 times more than a force majeure situation (earthquake) in conditions of exploitation of Amulsar.
Pashinyan said that of 16 steps proposed to Lydian, ten have already been met by the company and another five are in the phase of discussion.
“If these conditions are met it will mean that the mine will be exploited with highest environmental standards. We bring unprecedented high environmental standards for Armenia,” he said.
