Artsakh enjoys 80% growth of pomegranate harvest and growth of the number of foreign tourists: state minister
The year of 2018 was wrapped up with quite high economic growth index, state minister of Artsakh Grigory Martirosyan told the reporters, Aysor.am correspondent reports.
“This year the high growth tendency has been maintained and with the results of the first quarter we have registered 9,6% economic growth,” he said.
The minister said the economic growth has mainly been ensured by the industry sector and processing industry and energy in particular.
“Opposite to it, we have registered a small decline in the mining industry sector,” he said.
Martirosyan also noted that 1,5% growth has been registered on the account of construction.
The minister also said about locating water resources usage monitoring system in Artsakh.
“We have located them in almost all the hydro power stations,” he said.
The state minister also stressed the importance of founding shoe workshop in Artsakh which he said produces high-quality production.
“Over 80 jobs have been created by the company which already gives positive results,” he said.
Martirosyan also spoke about agricultural sector attaching significance to its intensive development.
“Saying intensive development we understand the necessity to use such models of agrobusiness which will add the efficiency of productivity,” the minster said.
The minister said with the results of 2018 the pomegranate harvest grew by 80% the majority of which is being purchased by Armenian companies.
Martirosyan said in 2019 the number of tourists visiting Artsakh is quite inspiring.
“We had 18,000 tourists in the first quarter of the year. I am speaking about foreign tourists. It is about 18,5% more as compared with the same span of 2018,” the minister said.
