Authorities target repressions in wrong direction: former Ambassador to Holy See Mikayel Minasyan on searches in apartments of people “relating to him”

Former ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan wrote on Facebook that from early in the morning of November 27 the police officers were searching the apartments of the people who in their opinion “are related to me.” He noted that the number of searched apartments exceeds ten.

“From all the possible ways of contacting with political competitors this regime has chosen the method to silence them by repressions. The more competitive the opponent is, with more enthusiasm they interrogate, persecute and search his surrounding, the acquaintances, former colleagues, friends. It does not matter that the accusation is imaginary and a direct pressure is being exerted not for learning the truth but for extorting testimonies. After all, they are threatening for a year and a half, but in fact they do not have anything. The important thing is to permanently terrorize the surrounding of the opponent,” Minasyan wrote.

“This is neither exaggeration, nor a manipulative way to raise compassion. It is a bitter truth which the regime is not hiding but applies against all even those who recently left their rows (for example, an official leaves the state system, on the next day 6th department of the police searches his house). In our case, there is no formality, the order of repression exists, the implementers as well. Here they are: ten criminal cases have already been instituted, which according to the regime, are related to me, my family and my surrounding. The law enforcers have already conducted over 25 searches, interrogated over 400 people. And every time with the same obsession – forcing people to say something about me and my family.

In reality, the authorities have targeted repressions in wrong direction. First, because no matter how much they search, persecute they will not find anything. Accept - there are people who acted and act in the sidelines of the law, and accept that these people are not with you, and you cannot start criminal persecution against them. And despite direct order to find something but not finding anything de jure and de facto, but still continuing searching, you appear in more ridiculous situation.

These authorities have targeted the repressions in a wrong direction, as unlike many, we knew from the very first day what they are capable of. And now we know who, where and how implements the direct orders of the leader of the regime. We know and will always remember. And now all this is just ridiculous, primitive and childish.

And we, having a very big army of associates, growing from day to day, are united not against someone, not for overthrowing a force but over joint values and goals, over the picture of future we have decided to build together. And nothing and no one will hold us back. Continue attacks, we are firm, we are and we will be,” Minasyan wrote.
