Over 40,000 people remain without homes as a result of war, 72 civilins were killed - Armenia's Ombudsman

Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan presented a number of important facts on gross violations of the rights of the peaceful civilians of Artsakh in September-November during the war unleashed by Azerbaijan.

“During the war over 100,000 civilians were displaced from their permanent settlements. Over 40,000 people have become homeless as a result of the war being deprived of their homes, personal belongings, opportunities to live in elementary conditions and other rights,” Tatoyan reported.

As a result of attacks of Azerbaijani armed forces over 30,000 children of pre-school and school age were deprived of the opportunity to get education.

Twelve pre-schools and 71 schools were damaged or ruined.

From September 27, 2020 to January 28, 2021 seventy-two civilians were killed including as a result of severe treatment and torture.

The ombudsman noted that 163 civilians received injuries, gained disability and lost health for the rest of the life.
